Closed Captioning (CC or CART)

Many television programs and movie houses are now providing closed captioning to help the hard of hearing members of the audience better understand what is being said on screen. Presentations at meetings are also often accompanied with captioning. Helpful indeed, but it still leaves some disconnect for a hard of hearing person in that music and various sound effects are still not being fully heard. Captioning is also rather monotone in nature and misses the beauty and nuances of speech expression and inflection. Added to that is the all too common problem of location. Is the captioning shown in the same "line of sight" as the presenter and presentation - the person (screen) to whom (which) you are listening? Adding an hearing loop system to any of these environments complements closed captioning and extends the hearing aid listening experience to its fullest potential.
